Spread your stitching wings and try something new - counted canvaswork! Canvas is easy on the eyes and easily accommodates the fun threads that won't go through linen or Aida. This small project is designed to fit into a ready made leather waller (available separately) or could be used as a box top, pillow or framed project. The class covers mounting canvas, reading a diagram, use of 6 different threads, and 8 stitches (rice, double leviathan, double herringbone, scotch with overlay, Rhodes square, pavilion diamonds and diamond outline). Plus we'll introduce you to some threads you may not have used: Caron Collection Watercolours, Kreinik #4 Braid, Rainbow Gallery Flair and Rainbow Gallery Gold Rush. You'll be able to make a good start on this project in class and finish it in about 10 hours or less, so it won't be a UFO hanging lurking in your stitching basket!

Canvas Stitch Notebook I: Basic Stitches
Are you ready to move beyond cross stitch? This class allows you to stitch samples of 28 stitches to keep in a notebook for reference. You will learn how to read a stitch diagram, how to mount canvas to stretcher bars and proper execution of stitches using the techniques taught in class. The stitched samples slide into a clear protective sleeve for visibility of the front and back with labels for identification. The kit includes #5 and #8 pearl cotton, cotton floss, #4 and #8 metallic braid, needles, stretcher bars, tacks, canvas and a binder for your stitched samples. The notebook includes several variations of Smyrna, Rhodes, rice and star stitches with braided cross, broad cross, double leviathan, triple cross, tied windmill, tied double cross, triple tied oblong cross, fern, waffle and reverse waffle. If you're ready to branch out, this notebook will refine your skills and enhance your confidence to tackle more advanced projects!

Canvas Stitch Notebook II: Beyond the Basics
If herringbone mystifies you, if eyelets frustrate you, and if Sprat's head puzzles you, this is the class for you! We will work on easy to see 18ct canvas and compile stitches for a reference notebook, with fronts and backs of stitches easily visible. We'll take basic herringbone and expand it to double herringbone, 6-trip herringbone, herringbone squares and leaves, and then interlace it. Learn the secrets of a perfect eyelet, worked as individual stitches and in rows then shaped as squares, diamonds, hearts and triangles. Sprat's heads will pose no problem after this class with triangles, hearts and even round Sprat's. Explore how the stitches look worked with #5 and #8 pearl cotton, #4 and #8 metallic braid, cotton floss, and overdyed heavy cotton. The kit includes stretcher bars and tacks. This class is a wonderful continuation of Canvas Stitch Notebook I: Basic Stitches.

Canvas Stitch Notebook III: Smooth as Satin
Perfectly executed satin stitches create shimmering beauty in needlework projects, and this notebook class begins with the basics of satin stitch and moves out to exploring patterns. We'll stitch in vertical, horizontal and diagonal rows, plus single motifs of hearts and diamonds. Then, we'll move into patterns - Hungarian, Milanese, Scotch, pavilion diamonds, cashmere, triangle satin and Southerland - and end up with a spectacular Milanese pinwheel. Good satin stitching begins with use of a laying tool, so we'll get lots of practice in class and put all the stitched samples into a notebook for reference later. Plus, we'll use cotton and silk floss, Rainbow Gallery Neon Rays for texture and Caron Collection Waterlilies for color interest while highlighting everything with #4 metallic braid. This class continues the techniques and projects taught in Canvas Stitch Notebook I: Basic Stitches and Canvas Stitch Notebook II: Beyond the Basics in a delightful way.

Learn how to stitch crescents of different sizes and shapes, Amadeus, Jessicas, Maltese Interlace, Walneto, double fan and even the most impressive double fan doubled. Compile all your stitches into a notebook for reference with the fronts and backs of the stitches visible. We'll use cotton and silk floss, #5 and #8 pearl cotton, #4 and #8 metallic braid, overdyed cotton and silk, Rainbow Gallery Neon Rays and Rainbow Galley Petite Very Velvet.
