History

Marilyn Vredevelt, founder and president of Stoney Creek Collection, Inc. has participated in various needlework shows since the early days of her business - including the Spirit of Cross Stitch Festivals, Rockome Gardens Needlework Show and others. Most recently, she was one of the sponsors of the Creative Arts and Teaching Shows (CATS) Stitching Festivals that were held from 1999 through 2007. The Stitching Festivals launched with ten sponsors, but by the Hershey show in October 2007, only Marilyn and Liz Turner Diehl remained as active sponsors. They made the sad announcement at the 2007 Hershey Stitching Festival that it would be their last show.

However, Hershey turned out to be such a wonderful show and so many stitchers expressed their disappointment in no longer having this venue to share their love and passion for needlework that Marilyn decided she couldn't just walk away. She went home and shared her thoughts with family and friends - and the staff at Stoney Creek. Everyone encouraged her to do whatever she could to "keep a show on the road!" As a result of that encouragement and the support of the Stoney Creek staff, the Stitching Jubilee was launched as a new event in 2008. The first Stitching Jubilee sponsored by Stoney Creek takes place in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania from October 2 to 4, 2008.
