Lorri Birmingham

Lorri is an internationally known designer recognized for her light-hearted whimsical characters and elegant Hardanger needlework. Her designs have earned her several "Golden Needle Merit Awards." Lorri attended Paier School of Art in New Haven, Connecticut where she trained in portraits and fine art. She began her stitching career as a free lance designer in 1989 and founded her own company in 1993. She has been teaching and exhibiting since 1993. You can also find Lorri's designs in her line of greeting cards with Marion Heath Greeting Cards.

Hardanger Needlecase & Fob
Dive right in and sharpen your skills while getting over your "Hardanger Anxiety." Cut threads without fear! Learn all techniques from Lorri herself in an easy stress-free class. This class will teach you several basic Hardanger techniques including Kloster blocks, Wrap Bars and Dove's Eyes - the foundation for all Hardanger work! You'll also learn five specialty stitches plus how to make your own twisted cording and attach beads and crystals. Materials used will include 28ct linen banding, ThreadworX overdyed floss, DMC Pearl Cotton, imported Czech crystals and glass pearls.

Hardanger Bookends
What a beautiful way to display your needlework with these gorgeous bookends! Stitched in an elegant color palette of soft greens, soft mauves and ecru with glistening gold accents. The center of the design spotlights Lorri's favorite Hardanger stitch - the Edelweiss stitch! These are truly unique bookends! You will need basic Hardanger knowledge for this class such as Kloster blocks, Woven Bars and cutting and removing threads. You will learn the Edelweiss stitch, Buttonhole Bars, Adjoining Wrap Bars and Spider Web Spokes as well as how to construct the bookends. The design is stitched on 28ct fabric with ThreadworX overdyed floss, Kreinik gold Blending Filament and DMC Pearl Cotton. The design is accented with imported glass pearls.
