Mendie Cannon

Mendie Cannon was introduced to stitching in sixth grade after an art teacher demonstrated needlepoint on rug canvas for her class. She began stitching in earnest at the age of 17 with crewel pictures. After going back to school, Mendie has become involved in many styles of needleart: needlepoint, petit point, cross stitch and hooking. A member of the Embroiderer's Guild of America since 1995, Mendie completed her certification to teach Punchneedle in 2003. She saw Brazilian embroidery at a cross stitch festival and began an amazing new journey as a needle artist. Mendie has won several awards from the Texas State Fair and the Louise Gibbon Award for Outstanding Cross Stitch. Following her first award in 2005 for Brazilian embroidery, Mendie became a member and certified instructor of the Brazilian Dimensions Embroidery International Guild.
