We’ve Hit The Stretch All…

h1 July 8th, 2008

We’re now into July. The Jubilee is getting closer. We’ve got lots of awesome Vendors. We’ve got lots of informative Classes. Check them all out at the website. As for the Yahoo Group, we’ve made a rather big change. Group Membership now requires approval. This change was made to address the recent insurgence of spam of an illegal nature. I hope everyone understands that we consider our Members safety (electronic and otherwise) to be our primary concern. Membership approval will be a completely painless procedure and is designed to help weed out spammers. Thank you.

An Update

h1 January 17th, 2008

We’ve invited several previous vendors to join us for the Jubilee.  A lot of the names you would recognize, but, until we receive their applications, we must wait and see.  I know I always enjoy seeing a vendor I trust and enjoy shopping with at shows (whatever the show focus may be).  We’ve added some new listings to our existing Exhibitor list so please take a look.  Several have been with us before while some are new.  If you don’t see your favorite store on the list, let them know about the Jubilee.  You could even drop a line to me (webmaster@stitchingjubilee.com) for an invitation.  Have a great day.

Hotel Questions

h1 January 8th, 2008

Some of you recently asked questions about the various lodging options in regards to the 2008 Stitching Jubilee at the Valley Forge Convention Center. I took a moment to ask a few questions of the management of the VFCC to see if I could provide you with the information requested.

1. Are the Scanticon Valley Forge and the Radisson Valley Forge pet friendly?
The Scanticon and the Radisson only allow service animals in the hotel.

2. What is the policy on smoking?
The public areas at the Scanticon and the Radisson are smoke-free. There are smoking rooms available. There is a lounge/restaurant at both the Scanticon and the Radisson where guests can smoke.

3. Is there shuttle service?
Tropiano Transportation offers shuttle service to and from the airport for guests. Arrangements can be made ahead of time as well as upon arrival. They offer both one-way pricing and round-trip pricing.

4. What kind of public transportation can we expect?
SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) provides transportation for guests from locations in the area and from downtown Philadelphia. The bus offers drop off and pick up service in front of the VFCC. Guests will need to check schedules for exact times. Budget Rental does run a small car rental hub from the VFCC. Guests would need to contact Budget Rental for more information.

5. What restaurant service is offered?
There are three restaurants on the property. Cafe Soleil offers breakfast and lunch service. Chumley’s offers lunch and dinner service. The Blue Grotto offers breakfast and dinner service. The Blue Grotto closes for lunch for private meeting events. There is also an “evening lounge.”

Poll Results

h1 January 2nd, 2008

On thestitchingjubilee Yahoo Group, we have been posting polls to find out various things about our stitchers. We’ve recently asked them two questions:

1. Do you design your own patterns?

Of the 159 responses:
47% sometimes design their own patterns
43% don’t design their own patterns
4% frequently design their own patterns
2% chose Other
1% design their own patterns for a living

2. Do you get together with other stitchers in craft groups?

Of the 167 responses:
29% don’t meet with other stitchers
22% meet once a month with other stitchers
17% meet once a week with other stitchers
7% meet every other week with other stitchers
6% chose Other
5% meet yearly with other stitchers
4% meet twice a year with other stitchers
2% meet every other month with other stitchers
1% meet every three months with other stitchers

We are excited by the creativity and ingenuity displayed by our group members. While it can be as simple as altering colors in an existing pattern or as difficult as creating a completely original piece, designing can be a fun activity in the stitching community. We all can understand the thought and feeling that goes into these pieces. It’s the same thought and feeling we all put into each and every pattern we stitch be it our pattern or another designer’s pattern.

Stay tuned for more polls from thestitchingjubilee.
